Delivery Policy

All deliveries are carried out by our approved third-party hauliers. We offer three delivery types:

Tail-lift delivery (palletised 20kg bags) — Our standard delivery format. Products are supplied in 20kg bags, palletised and shrink-wrapped, and delivered by tail-lift vehicle. Standard delivery is to a level kerbside. Where accessible and acceptable to the driver, delivery may be made to a level area of hard standing. To move goods using a pump truck the surface must be flat and constructed of tarmac or concrete — pump trucks cannot be used on gravel or uneven surfaces.

HIAB delivery (1 tonne FIBC bags) — Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers holding approximately 1 tonne of product, delivered by HIAB (crane-equipped vehicle). A practical option for larger orders. Please ensure there is suitable overhead clearance and access for a HIAB vehicle on site.

Loose/bulk tipper delivery — Loose product delivered by tipper lorry. Available for larger quantities where agreed in advance. Please ensure the tipping area is suitable and accessible for a large tipper vehicle.

The delivery method will be confirmed in your quotation. Please discuss your site access and handling facilities with us at the time of enquiry so we can ensure the most appropriate delivery format is arranged.

Our standard delivery is to the kerbside at the address specified in your order. This means our driver will deliver as close to the kerbside as is safely accessible by vehicle.

If you require delivery to a specific location on your site beyond the kerbside — for example, directly to a groundsman’s compound, storage area or pitch — please discuss this with us at the time of ordering. Such deliveries are at the customer’s own risk and may attract an additional charge.

Delivery times given at the time of ordering are estimates only and are subject to change. We will contact you to agree a delivery date and, where possible, a delivery window.

Whilst we make every effort to deliver on the agreed date, time shall not be of the essence. Surrey Loams Ltd shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from a delay in delivery caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to adverse weather, vehicle breakdown, road closures or supplier delays.

Please ensure that a responsible person is available at the delivery address on the agreed delivery date. Upon delivery, you will be asked to sign the delivery note confirming receipt of the correct quantity of Goods in satisfactory condition.

Please inspect your order carefully at the time of delivery. Any shortages or visible damage should be noted on the delivery note at the time of delivery. Claims made after the delivery note has been signed without notation may be more difficult to resolve.

The Buyer shall be deemed to have accepted Goods 3 days after delivery, or immediately upon use of the Goods, whichever is the earlier.

If our vehicle arrives at the agreed time but is unable to make delivery due to circumstances on your side (for example, no one present, access blocked, or site not ready), we reserve the right to charge a demurrage fee for waiting time. If we wait 30 minutes or more without being able to deliver, we may leave and rebook delivery for another date.

If you are unable to accept delivery within three business days of being notified that your Goods are ready, we will arrange to store them on your behalf. Storage charges will apply. If Goods remain uncollected after 10 business days we reserve the right to resell them.

Surrey Loams Ltd reserves the right to take photographs at the time of delivery as evidence of the condition and quantity of Goods delivered. This is for the protection of both parties.

All Surrey Loams Ltd prices are fully inclusive of delivery. We do not separate out delivery charges — the price you are quoted is the price you pay.

Delivery costs vary considerably depending on your location and the haulier available at the time of your order. For example, a load to the south coast may cost significantly more or less than a load to the Midlands, depending on which haulier can accommodate the delivery. These costs are absorbed into your quoted price.

This means that the price you receive for the same product may differ from a previous order or from a quote given to another customer in a different location. This is not a reflection of the product — it is simply the reality of road haulage costs across the UK, which can vary substantially between different carriers and at different times of year.
